Hat Trick

A 'hat trick' is scoring three goals in a hockey game.  I suppose I could consider 3 self-published books in a lifetime a 'hat trick'?

Today and tomorrow (Jan. 8 and 9, 2024), Blurb is offering 20% off when customers use the coupon JANBOOK20

These books rarely go on sale, so it's always nice when I can offer a discount to folk.  With everything going up, up, up, I know that a lot of people are struggling financially.

I try to keep my prices as reasonable as I can, but just like everyone else, I have expenses to meet, bills to pay.

We are finally getting winter, and as has been happening of late, the weather just has to be 'extreme'.  So we have snow warnings, and *cold* temperatures are forecast.  I guess our new HVAC system is going to be put to the test!

This week is a bit of a challenge anyway since I will need to be on 'light' duties for at least 5 days.  I've got a list of things I can be doing, and I'm sure I'll feel better once I get those niggling tasks (ignored for far too long, some of them) completed.

Yesterday I dug through some more papers and tossed a bunch.  I hope I don't regret throwing more stuff out!  But there comes a time when I really do have to let go of things.

As part of my light duty week, I will be working on the next book.  This one will have very limited appeal, so it will be only digital, sold via my ko-fi shop.  My editor was quite encouraging when we spoke last week and we did some rough planning.  Now I have to find some photos to illustrate a few things.  This book won't have a lot of photos, but we feel some are needed.

Yesterday, looking for some things for the new book I found some other things I thought had been tossed long ago and are suitable for this book.  Since I forgot they existed, they are images that haven't been seen before (on my blog or elsewhere), so there will be some new content in terms of images.

Am I written out yet?  Dunno.  I did do a more 'usual' memoir in 2019 - sort of a pre-history, covering more of my childhood, formative years.  Will I bother?  Will anyone care?  Do *I* care?  Maybe the act of writing the memories down was more self-help than something that needs to be shared?  That is also a possibility.  The jury remains out on that one.

During these tumultuous times, I send everyone best wishes for the coming year.
