Four Seasons

view from my front window at 1 pm March 1, 2011

view from my studio window....yes in the basement...

I live in a climate with four seasons.

Almost winter.
Winter.
Still winter.
Road construction.

Guess which season this is and why I have little difficulty going to my loom to weave. :)

Please explaine for those of us in Florida, for what use is the red topped stick?

Here in Sweden they are used to help let the snow ploughs know where the side of the road is. Ours are orange, though.

And Laura - at least you don't have to shovel to get to the studio :-)

You made me chuckle out loud!

Although we rarely read the same books, I did read the HeLa book a few months ago. Interesting. And sad for the family.

Kerstin has it - the city crews mark the fire hydrants so that the snow removal crews don't accidently knock them over and also to keep them clear in case of emergency. And yes, there have been times when that height was necessary - and may be this year the way the snow is falling - still!

And yes, I only have to walk down the stairs - no getting dressed to brave -33C windchill temps, no snow shovelling! :D

The HeLa book is fascinating.

Your seasons are comparable with Alaska's: Winter, Breakup, Construction, Moose Season. It has been in the "belows" every day this week. I'm ready for a daffodil or two.

Sounds like South Dakota...

Here in Vancouver I think we have perhaps 2 seasons: the Cold Wet Season and the Slightly Warmer Wet Season with maybe a day or two of sunshine in between - just to keep us (well most of us anyhow) from attempting suicide due to the lack of sunlight. But, as my late daddy always said, at least you don't have to shovel it!

Gotta love a job with a very short commute.

Hi Louisa - hoping to see you at Fibres West in a couple of weeks. :)

I thought of you when I read this. It is written by David Viscott: "The purpose of life is to discover your gift. The meaning of life is to give it away." You have surely done that! Keep strong.
