Stymied

peering closely at things

I have been 'stymied' this past week so I didn't make it to the loom until yesterday (Sunday).  I rationed myself to 20 minutes at the loom, which meant I got to the 400 pick total.  Which meant I was weaving about my standard 'sedate' pace of 20 picks per minute.

I forced myself to stop before I 'felt' fatigue or stressed muscles, then ignored the studio for the rest of the day.

I did, however, manage to get the new inventory tagged/priced over the course of the week.  But I felt very 'off' not getting my usual two sessions at the loom done.

Today I am aching a bit, but I don't know if it is due to my weaving, or just my 'standard' aches and pains.  Once I'm dressed I will go back to the loom for another 20 minutes, and monitor how I feel each day before I begin to increase that.

I also polished the next article for WEFT and I think I'm about ready to send it.  Just have to dig through my photo files to send images they will replicate, using a professional photographer and better lighting, focus, etc.  I am of two minds if I send a small sample to show a technique I developed or just ignore the shipping issue for now.

A few months ago I requested the prime minister's book called 'Values' from the library.  It is now ready for me so I will look forward to learning more about the PM.  I wish I'd known about his book before the election - though truth be told, he and the Liberal Party was the only sensible choice (imho).

And a new 'news' outlet launched today - Meidas Touch Canada.  As always I will read, absorb, analyze what I read and then make a decision.  Someone posted a really nasty rant about a 'Quebec senator' quoting 'him' with some alt right bs.  But I had read the post before, when it was attributed to a US politician.   Sure enough it was 'fake' news.  There was no Quebec senator of that name, but there was a US politician who had been credited with that post, almost word for word - except the references to the "Quebec" politician/situation - which in it's own way is a racist trope in western Canada.  If you are as old as I am, the memories of the FLQ are still there, and the rage fomented against Franco-Canadians was ugly.

So, I try to stay informed, do some poking around when a post smells, and find out if it is true or just more alt right prevarications.

Today is Labour Day.  I am not 'labouring' today, but I'm hoping to at least spend a few minutes at the loom.  Encourage my body to function 'better'.  I need to book a follow up with the pain doctor, and hopefully my renewed meds will be ready, too.  I am also going to try and meet up with someone I have only be in touch with online.  I want to try and expand my horizons a bit after being in isolation for most of the previous 12 months.

But I'm also trying a new medication for my chronic pain, and am not sure how well it is going to work for me.  Bottom line?  Can I keep weaving?  Time will tell...
